Back to the Future (1985) IMDB rating: 8.10 Plot: Marty McFly is an aspiring musician, but he is not sure of what the future holds for him; first his band was rejected as the performing band for the school dance, and historically, no McFly has succeeded in anything. The only bright spots in his existence are his girlfriend and Emmett Brown, the town crackpot scientist, who is Marty’s good friend. Marty was helping brown with his latest invention a time machine, which is fitted into a Delorean. The time machine needs a tremendous amount of power to work, which he gets from plutonium. Now Brown got the plutonium from some Libyans who want him to build a bomb; they find Brown and shoot him, Marty gets into the Delorean and drives off and when he reaches the speed of 88 mph that activates the time machine, he finds himself in 1955, cause that was the date that Brown entered, which was when he first conceived the time machine. Now having already used up all the power of the plutonium, Marty must find a way to get it working, so he can go back to his own time. Marty looks for Brown but before he does, he runs into his father as a teenager, and accidentally interferes with his father’s first meeting of Lorraine, his future mother. Marty then goes to see Brown and convinces him that he is from the future and to help him. But when he learns of the amount of power that is needed to power the machine, he tells Marty that it’s hopeless cause the only other thing that can generate that much power is a bolt of lightning and it’s impossible to determine when and where they will strike, but Marty has with him an old newspaper cliping that states that the town clock tower will be struck by lightning, so they plan to draw the energy from the lightning so they can power the machine. But before they do, Marty must act as cupid for his parents cause it seems that because they never met they won’t fall in love and get married and Marty will not exist.

Holes by Louis Sachar –that was also a good book. I read the book before the movie came out. I was reading this during Hurricane Isabel. My mom had picked it up when I wasn’t reading it. When I wanted to read it again, she didn’t want to put it down. She wanted to rip the book in half so she could keep reading, and so she could shut me up. lol. and no, I wouldn’t let her do that. I don’t remember who go the book though…..

Secret life of the Bees by Sue Monk Kidd –that I read way before the movie came out. very good book.

The Blue Mirror by Kathe Koja—-I skipped gym class in high school to finish this one =)

Hate You by Graham McNamee—–I skipped gym class again to finish this one

Med Center by Diane Hoh—-this is a very addicting series.

The Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett—I watched that movie so many times as a little girl, but the book was just as addicting. I loved it. I had this book in my history book when I should have been studying for finals back in the 10th grade.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks—–I cried so hard while reading this that my mom was telling me to just stop reading it. But I didn’t. I just couldn’t. I personally hate the movie. They changed some things that just contradicted things in the book

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton —this may have been on a school’s reading list you have had or may have….but it’s one of my favorite books to read. One of my friends use to love reading this over and over again in class in the 7th grade. And she’d just burst into tears. And my teacher would be like…’Taylor, It’s just a verb…oh, not that book again.’

Waiting for Sarah by Bruce McBay—–also a very good book. I read this during class.

A Well-Timed Enchantment by Vivian Vande Velde—–I happen to love a lot of her books. Such as Companions of the Night—my all time favorite book.

Is something not right in my life?
I lead a very dull existence, I have no job, i have friends but i feel the majority of the time they just either forget or don’t bother to contact me, i live in a run down house on my own and nobody ever calls. Women seem to ignore me, but talk to my other friends and blank me out completely even if i make an effort to talk. People pass me off as being some kind of no-hoper virgin and refuse to let me redeem myself. I have terrible bad luck, i get mocked at for no reason by strangers. I attract weirdos on the street, i have little to nothing in common with my brother and he always wants me to do impossible things, such as going on expensive holidays even though i’m barely scraping by.

I have a friend who is in the exact situation as myself but everything in his life is a ball of sunshine and everything always works out for him, it makes me want to cry because nobody respects me like they respect him, i know it sounds selfish to be angry at someones happiness but i truly can’t help myself!!

I’m not depressed, but i am angry and tired and bitter at the world.

Some days i feel okay, but other days i wish i could just go missing and start over, although i tried starting over already and my life is exactly the same.

All the social issues you have all boil down to the fact that people aren’t going to want to hang out with somebody that is living in a canstant state of "poor me."

one day , a normal day a space craft lands on earth and out come human shaped aliens that have there faces covered , they ask "who are you"

and the humans of the world (because every body would know about such a important thing)

the aliens look at each other and then one click a switch and billions of animals teleport behind them , they take of there helmet and we realize that they are chimps

and suddenly they start laughing at us (all of the animals)

University acceptance dilemma?
I was due to start university abroad in 2 weeks, however, I was not sent the acceptance forms until 3 weeks ago. Due to heavy snowfall in the north of England, we didn’t have any post for some days, and then we had Christmas. By the time I recieved the forms it was the new year.

I opened the package, and the first 2 forms said:
Return forms to us by the 15th of January.

I breathed a sigh of relief and I prepared to fill them out and send them giving them on the 10th giving 5 days to arrive on the 15th. Much to my horror, when I filled the forms out on the 10th, 1 said: This MUST be recieved before JANUARY 1ST.

I know that was my fault and I will never forgive myself for not noticing that.

I paid the ?200 acceptance deposit, I have a flight booked and all my things packed and no other place.

I’m extremely concerned and not sure what to do. My parents are not supportive ones and don’t really care.

Is there anything I can do if they don’t accept me? Any boards I can apply to? I worked hard for this place.

Contact them, and let them know that due to the snowfall in your country, the mail was suspended, and you didn’t receive the forms on time. Then tell them that you really, really want to go there, you’ve sent the deposit, and will you be all right.

Most unis show forgiveness on due date misses due to things like this. But you can’t just assume that they will. You *must* contact them to let them know your situation, so they can make an official exception for you.

Call them asap, then follow up with an email. Keep track of everything, in writing - who you speak to, on what day, at what time, and what was said. Just in case.

looking for a classical 2d airplane shooting game, wonder if anyone knows its name =)?
I played this game like 10 years ago, but I don’t know its name. So I am gonna describe it. It’s a 2d airplane shooting game, the player has some money to start off with, you can use it to upgrade the plane, the plane can take up to 100 hits, and players can buy shields, one shield can take another 100 hits, and u can drop a nuke by pressing spacebar. There are some supply crates in the mission and provides players HP and weapons. I remember there are 3 types of missiles, the white missiles are for air targets and the green missiles are for ground targets, and there is an orange missile, fire in burst, just like shotgun rounds, and later in the game,when u have enough money, u can buy laser weapon, and it chases enemies automatically.

Anyone knows the name of the game? It will be perfect if you provide me a download link. I have been looking for it for so long. I used to play it all the time when i was a kid.

It’s pretty simple to work.

I haven’t played all of the series, just the last 2, but, I don’t remember the different types of ammunition being for air ground or whatever. Just different shot patterns.
