My dog has diarrhea but my mom wont take him to a vet.?
My dog somehow ate a whole chicken breast with bones in it and has diarrhea now but there’s no blood in it. What can I do to help stop the diarrhea? D:
My dog is a mixed chihuahua/dash hound and the chicken was fried, he ate it 2 days ago and started having diarrhea last night.
You shouldn’t try to stop diarrhea, it’s the body’s way of flushing out toxins.
You could however, go rent your mom a steam cleaner (maybe you should learn to use it yourself too.)

Size of dog? Chicken cooked or raw? I never get people who laugh about a sick dog, but maybe that’s just me.

Diarrhea can be a very bad thing in dogs, especially young ones. They get dehydrated quite easily. It’s too bad that your mom won’t let you take him to the vet, because those bones could really cause trouble. I’d be more worried about that than the diarrhea.

You can feed your dog what is called a ‘bland diet’. Get a half pound of ground beef and cook it in a pan on the stove. While you’re doing that, make 1 cup of white rice. Feed this in small amounts to your dog 3-4 times a day. This should stop the loose stool. Also, if you are concerned that your puppy is dehydrated, you can give her gatorade. I usually mix it with a bit of water, as I find the dogs will drink more if it is a little watered down. This will give her some electrolytes as well as help keep her hydrated. Good luck!

Don’t let your dog eat chicken bones! They are hollow, so when he bites them, they will break and get stuck in his throat. You have to be careful. Other bones are okay, though, just not bird ones.
I’m not sure about the diarrhea, just keep him outside till he stops.:)

We need more information. Was the chicken raw? It could just be disagreeing with the dog’s stomach or had bacteria on it that is upsetting the GI tract. The usual concern of chicken bones is that the dog will choke because the bones splinter when being eaten, not that the dog will get diarrhea from it.
If this is happening the same day the dog ate the chicken or even the day after, I wouldn’t be concerned. But if it doesn’t get better after that, gets worse, or the dog doesn’t want to eat or drink, he would need to go to the vet.

Did the chicken breast have bones in it, was it cooked? If it was boneless, cooked or not, your dog should be fine as long as he doesn’t have a chicken allergy

Since many, if not most, commercial dog foods contain chicken as the main meat ingredient you’d likely know by now if he was allergic. If it had bones in it, but was raw, he should be fine as the meat would coat the bones on the way down sufficiently to ease passage. If it was cooked with bones in still the bones are much more prone to splintering and can cause a problem.
Keep a close eye on him, though there’s probably no real need to panic. Remove all food for 24 hours but make sure he has water or ice cubes to keep himself hydrated. This will let him empty himself out sufficiently and give his digestive system a little break. After 24 hours mix 2 parts cooked rice or oatmeal with 1 part boiled, rinsed hamburger and feed her as much as you would her normal food for a few days until her stool returns to normal. It’s bland and easy on the digestive system and should effectively stop her diarrhea.
If your mother won’t even do this for your dog then she has no business owning one. Sorry if it’s harsh, but come on. The dog is in discomfort, likely doesn’t require veterinary assistance, but she CAN ease his discomfort.
Watch for symptoms of obstruction like gagging, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Gently palpate his tummy with your fingers from time to time to feel for swelling or excessive heat and watch him for signs of pain.
If he shows these symptoms call a vet. Tell your mom that if he has a blockage it is almost always painfully and slowly fatal without surgical intervention and he may need to be put down.
In the mean time, don’t panic, it will likely pass with little or no problem.
